Photographer FAQ

Probably of most interest to other photographers, here is a little insight into the method behind my madness, and some FAQs I get about photography:

Gear bag

It’s always changing, but right now this is the gear I use:

Canon 5D MkII + Battery grip
24mm f/1.4 L
50mm f/1.4
135mm f/2 L
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
Speedlite 600 EX-RT
Various and unextraordinary tripods, a monopod, filters, etc.
Tenba Messenger bag
A computer (Mac & PC) with Adobe Photoshop + Camera Raw <3

1) Do you shoot in RAW or JPG?
Raw, almost exclusively. If you don’t know why RAW is better, and have a free hour or two, I’d be happy to explain why. 🙂

2) Do you edit your own photos?
Yes, always. My images are like my kids. I won’t let anyone else touch them. It takes a lot of time, more than most people realize, but it’s worth it because the editing process (also called processing, post-processing or developing) is a lot of what sets my images apart from another photographer’s, so it is very important that I put my unique ‘mark’ on each image that I produce and bears my name. It’s a point of pride, most assuredly. I’ve even provided examples of how images look before and after this process on the aptly-named “Before & After” page.
